Older Adult Ministries

For help navigating the issues of aging, our Co-Director of Older Adult Ministries can answer questions and find resources regarding health care, transportation, mental health, and other areas that impact the well-being of our older adults.

Community Presbyterian Church has a Senior Task Force which addresses the needs of the church’s older adult members. Having conducted two listening sessions, the Task Force determined that isolation and transportation are some of the biggest issues of our older members. As a result, the Task Force offers a 50+ Friends Sunday Lunch following the 10:30 a.m. Worship Service about three times a year to provide a venue for conversation and occasional entertainment, as well as a place to continue to listen to the concerns and joys of the older members. Every effort is made to provide transportation to these events for those who need it.

CPC has also reviewed and is addressing issues of accessibility, both for getting into the building and getting around within the building. Regular contact is made to some of our housebound and nursing home members throughthe pastors and Stephen Ministers. Other opportunities for ministry are continually being explored.

Caregiver Support Group

The Caregiver Support Group meets on the fourth Tuesday of the month from 7:00-8:30 p.m. in the Parlor.

Being responsible for the care of an older adult can be fraught with emotion.  It can be helpful to share experiences and frustrations with others in similar circumstances.  All caregivers are invited to attend.

Any questions or interest, please contact Paula Cyphers, Director of Older Adult Ministries, or the church office.
