Welcome to CPC!

Confirmation Sunday, May 20

Disciples is the name of  the Confirmation program at Community Presbyterian Church.

This year’s class has 34 Disciples, all high school freshmen.

Since a weekend retreat in September at Presbyterian Camps in Saugatuck, Michigan, many of these young people have been preparing to become members of the church, learning and practicing their faith together.

Confirmation will take place May 20, at the 10:30 a.m. worship service.

We celebrate with and ask God’s blessing on all the young people in this year’s Disciples class.

COMMUNAL GARDEN PROJECT: Year Two

Join us on Saturday, May 19

when we will have a

GARDEN WORK-DAY

and plant tomatoes, peppers, squash,

beans and lots of other vegetables!

Watch this space and we will keep you updated on

how our garden grows in 2012!

THE COMMUNITY PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH VEGETABLE GARDEN

……. was created to grow both food and community ……

In our first year … we harvested 1569 pounds of vegetables and donated all of the fresh produce to

The People’s Resource Center in Westmont for distribution to the clients of their food pantry.

In the process of working the plot, we were blessed with many opportunities for conversation, service and fellowship.

………………………………………………………

Looking forward to our second year … we have increased the size of our planting area and  now have a raised bed.

We will be adding a watering system that incorporates a solar-powered pump, larger — 660 gallon — rain barrels …

to collect water run-off from the roof of the manse … and a drip irrigation system to support the larger garden space.

We continue to strive to be pesticide-free and self-sustaining!

WE NEED YOUR PRAYERS AND SUPPORT TO MAKE THE GARDEN A SUCCESS!

Please consider contributing to the garden project in one of the following ways …

1) Contribute Financially – we depend solely on donations to purchase seeds,

plants soil amendments and other essential  garden supplies …

2) See the garden “WISH LIST’ in the church office

3) Join us for our monthly “DINNER IN THE GARDEN” gatherings.

Everyone is welcome … it really doesn’t matter if you have worked in the garden or not!

4) Like us on Facebook (“CPC Vegetable Garden”) to see the latest updates on how things are growing,

when gatherings and work days are planned and to get the latest harvest totals …

THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT!

If you have any questions, please contact Paul Bronsteader or Debbie Weber.
