Fellowship
Presbyterian Women
Presbyterian Women is an inclusive, caring community of women who share fellowship, nurture faith, and support local and worldwide missions. Events are open to all women of Community Presbyterian Church and their guests.
PW General Meetings and Programs occur the first Tuesday of every month from September through May in Fellowship Hall. Reservations are not needed to attend events, and babysitting will be made available upon request. Meetings include pot-luck and bag lunches, a Christmas Open House, an evening tea, and the Faith and Fellowship Breakfast in May. This year a variety of interesting programs will include topics such as “Feng Shui,” “Abraham Lincoln in American Art,” a “Spotlight on Mission,” reinterpreting the old classic “Dr. Zhivago,” an impersonation of Jacqueline Kennedy, discovering American cultural identity in cookbooks, and “Dancing through the Ages” with the Ballroom City Dancers.
PW Circles are small groups of women who meet mornings, afternoons, and evenings for a time of bible study the fourth Tuesday of each month in either members’ homes or in the church parlor. The 2009-2010 Horizons Bible Study is entitled:
Joshua
A Journey of Faith
In this study the author Mary Mikhael invites us to explore the challenging, sometimes heartrending book of Joshua. Pursuing such themes as leadership, the promise of land, the concept of “holy war,” and outsiders becoming insiders, we learn ultimately to find rest in the justice and mercy of God. Please join us for thoughtful discussions among a supportive group of women.
PW supports many mission projects both at home and abroad. We participate in funding mission projects through our PW Mission Pledge that is distributed by the Presbytery of Chicago. We also support special offerings such as the Thank Offering, the Birthday Offering and the Fellowship of the Least Coin. The recipients of these offerings are selected annually and provide support for a wide variety of mission work worldwide. We also directly support Association House, Pillars Community Services, Chicago Christian Industrial League, Family Shelter Services, and Kemmerer Village through monetary and volunteer means.
PW can offer another way to strengthen your commitment to Christ by joining together with other women who also share that commitment. It is a valuable way to meet new friends, reach out to others, and grow in your faith. We hope you will join us as often as possible! For more information and any questions please contact:
