Charlotte’s Closet

Charlotte’s Closet is a mission of Community Presbyterian Church under the management of the Board of Deacons. and is located in the lower level of the church in the north hall that is entered from Fellowship Hall.

The purpose of Charlotte’s Closet is to donate to charities that service people in need.  These charities include, People’s Resource Center, the Salvation Army, Sharing Connections, Hope Chest, Hope’s Front Door, battered women’s facilities, and churches with special requests in Du Page and Cook counties.

Charlotte’s Closet is open most of the year to accept donations.  It is closed from mid-April through mid-August to store items for the yearly Jubilee Resale. Warm clothing that is donated in late fall or early winter is especially appreciated for PADS guests.  Fewer donations are requested in January and February due to more difficulty in distributing items in winter weather.

Charlotte’s Closet is designed to receive the following donations:  gently used clothing for all ages with no stains or tears, warm accessories such as hats and gloves, shoes in good condition, purses and back packs, new socks, toiletries, small children’s toys, games, books, and new art supplies.

The following items should NOT be donated to Charlotte’s Closet:  Drapery, fabrics, bedding (unless new and unopened), swimsuits, underwear, jewelry, large toys, stuffed animals, furniture items, baby furnishings (cribs, car seats, etc), and household goods and appliances. These items are generally appropriate for the Jubilee Resale.

If you have questions or would like to help sort items, please contact the church office, 630-323-6522
