Preschool

CPC owns and operates a developmental preschool that has served the congregation and the community for over 40 years, providing quality half-day enrichment programs for 2 ½,  3, 4, and 5 year olds. Community Presbyterian Church Preschool is proud to be accredited by NAEYC, the National Association for the Education of Young Children, and recognized for our commitment to developmentally appropriate preschool education.

Enrollment for the next school year begins in December with priority given to CPC members as well as current preschool students and their siblings. Open registration begins the first week of January. Tuition assistance is available for those who qualify.

Our Objectives
Our Preschool’s objectives are to develop a childs curiosity, confidence, independence and resourcefulness, all of which are foundations for future learning. Children will learn to be a member of a group away from home, respect other people and property, and adapt to routines and following directions, while learning to accept and express emotions in an acceptable manner.

The curriculum provides opportunities for children to participate in meaningful, hands-on, interactive experiences. Learning occurs through the childs interaction with real objects, the teacher and other children. There are teacher-planned activities and also child-directed activities as seen in a sound, developmentally appropriate pre-school program. Activities are set up and are planned for individual as well as small group participation.

Schedule
The 2 ½-year-olds meet two mornings a week (Tuesdays and Thursdays). Children must be 30 months olds by September 1st to enroll in the 2 ½-year-old class.

The three-year-olds meet three mornings a week (Mondays, Wednesdays, & Fridays). Children must be three by September 1st to enroll in the three-year-old class.

The Pre-Kindergarten class has two options: four mornings per week (Monday-Thursday) or five mornings per week. Children enrolling in the Pre-Kindergarten class must be four years old by September 1st.

Licensing requirements dictate that the child must be toilet trained. Questions about preschool? Call Director Kathy Cantlon, or Cathy Stahr, (630) 323-6522.
