Gregg Sewell

Director of Music Ministries / Choirs


Gregg was welcomed to CPC in August of 2017. His responsibilities include directing the Chancel and Clarion choirs (voices and handbells respectively) and working with the Aspire/Endeavor children’s choirs. In addition, Gregg is tasked with coordinating all music in worship with Pastor Beth, and the rest of the staff. His focus is on finding ways to invigorate worship through music of all kinds.

Gregg started his career as a church organist at the age of 12 ½ in a small Baptist church in Alabama, where he grew up. He earned his Bachelor’s Degree in music theory and composition at Samford University in Birmingham, AL. Since then he has served as a choir director and minister of music at churches in Alabama, Tennessee and Ohio. Most recently he was the music director at the Deerfield United Methodist Church. In Dayton, OH, he worked as an editor at the Lorenz Publishing Company, which is known for its magazines for church choirs. He has also composed for university ensembles and events and has published more than 2,600 music compositions. Since 2007 he has been a textbook copy editor and music engraver for GIA Publications in Chicago.
